Blair and his crew were part of a five plane formation that departed Pandaveswar, India to bomb targets at Moulmein, Burma. Five minutes after dropping their bombs the formation was jumped by 8 to 12 Japanese fighter planes. On about the third or fourth, the bomber's #2 engine caught fire. Blair shut down the engine, the fire went out and they made a diving left turn into clouds. They were not seen again. Declared deceased October 4, 1946. Blair and crew are listed among those memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery.
