2nd Lt. Buchholz was the pilot of B-24J #42-73080, assigned to the 10th Air Force, 7th Bombardment Group, 492nd Bombardment Squadron. They crashed on final approach to Kurmitola airbase in India, having flown from Kunming China. All aboard, except the co-pilot Lt. Joseph T. McDermott, were killed.
