Buckman, William Arnold

Rites Held for Soldier Returned from Overseas for burial. Funeral Services for William Arnold Buckman were held at the Havana Methodist Church Tuesday, March 2, with Rev. Billy Dennis, pastor, in charge. S/Sgt. Buckman's body was returned from the Shofield Mausoleum in Hawaii for burial in Havana. Sgt. Buckman was born in Havana 1922 and was inducted into the army upon completion of high school there in 1942. He received training at Keelson Field, Miss. at Will Run, Michigan and at Harlington field, where he received his aerial gunner's wings. He was sent to India in February of 1944 and to China in April. He was killed in action in China on June 13, 1944.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Buckman of Havana; four sisters, Mrs. Lalle Dohlstom, Gardena, Calif., Mrs. Imogene Brinckmeyer, Russellville, Mrs. Billie Sue Lassiter, Havana, and Betty Lou of the home; and four brothers, N. J. Buckman, Havana, James, in the army at Williams Field, Ariz. Jack, Gardena, Calif. and Raymond of the home. Military services were conducted by the Forrester-Buckman American Legion Post at Havana.
