They were part of a formation of planes sent to bomb Rangoon Burma. They encountered anti-aircraft fire and took damage. Shortly after dropping their bombs Goodwin's bomber lost altitude and was lost from view of the other planes. Reportedly the crew survived the crash and they were captured by Burmese nationals who turned them over to the Japanese. They were transported to Rangoon and no further trace of the crew was ever found.
